Become a Tenant
If you'd like to become a tenant with UWE houses, we’ve made the process of finding a house, or room, simple. Follow the steps below to take you from your initial search through to securing a tenancy with us.
Search rooms and request a viewing
Start by using the ‘Search for a Property’ tool to look for availability based on the number of bedrooms you need.
Once you've created a shortlist of your favourite houses, you can 'Request a Viewing'. We will then invite you to a Zoom call with us to discuss your options.
Please note, we will prioritise larger groups to suit the larger houses and cannot organise viewings without doing a Zoom call with you first.
Get approved by us
If after the viewing you would like to apply, we will send you a link to complete an online application form. You will also be asked to each pay a £100 holding deposit.
Both your application form AND your £100 holding deposit are needed to secure your room.
Next steps
We will contact your guarantor and reference them to check they are suitable. Your guarantor will need to be UK-based, earn 3 x the annual rent, and ideally be a family member.
You will then need to pay a £400 tenancy deposit. This will be protected with MyDeposits. Your deposit is held for the duration of the tenancy and is refundable providing there are no deductions. For more information on deposits, click here.
Sign the joint contract
The last step is to come into our office for a contract signing meeting to discuss any questions you may have before you sign it. For more information on our contracts and to read a sample contract, click here.
We will also complete our Right to Rent checks so please bring your passport. Once the contract is fully signed, your initial £100 holding deposit will be refunded. You can now look forward to moving in!
